Super Junior

"Super Junior", made up of thirteen members which are formed by leading record company, SM Entertainment in 2005. The thirteen members are Lee Tuek (Leader), Hee Chul, Han Kyung, Ye Sung, Kang In, Shin Dong, Sung Min, Eun Hyuk, Dong Hae, Si Won, Ryeo Wook, Ki Bum and Kyu Hyun. The only chinese member, Han Kyung joined the group after he was chosen from the audition among 3,000 applicants by SM Entertainment in 2001. In such, the group with twelve members launched their first single, "Twins(Knock Out)" and also performed as a group on SBS Inkigayo on 6 November 2005. Thereafter, a complete album, Super Junior05 (Twins) was released on 7 December 2005 with hit songs " Twins (Knock Out)" and "You Are The One". Their first album sold more than 83,000 copies becoming one of the third highest best-selling album in December 2005. An Official fanclub was created for the group as E.L.F (Everlasting Friends) and an official color, Sapphire blue was chosen to represent Super Junior 05 by the Korean fans. To further publicize the group, Super Junior 05 collaborated with their fellow senior labelmates, Dong Bang Shin Ki and released a Christmas single together titled " Show Me Your Love". Both the groups performed together to promote their single in some of the music shows.
In year 2006, Super Junior 05 moved on to their second single "Miracle", a light bubblegum-flavoured song which peak at No. 1 on different music charts in South Korea as well as Asia countries. When promotions for the single slowly come to an end, SM Entertainment announced to the public that Super Junior 05 was not intended to be a permanent group but a rotational project group so as to create popularity and experiences for each member in order to achieve success easily in the entertainment industry. The recording company revealed that some members would either stay or leave the group to pursue on solo activities. New members would probably joined in to replace the members who leave the group while some would be rotated. This caused outrageous reaction from the fans who wanted Super Junior 05 to remain together as a group.
On 23 May 2006, SM Entertainment announced the addition of a new member Kyu Hyun, the youngest member of the group. The group polished a newer look and released their new single "U" online for fans to download free on 25 May 2006. The single exceeded 1.7 million downloads and stay on the No. 1 spot on the charts for five weeks. This song also crowned SBS Inkigayo's Mutizen Song for three consecutive weeks. The album officially landed on CD stores on 6 June 2006 ultimately selling over 83,000 copies. Since then, Super Junior had been appearing on various musical and variety shows frequently to promote their first single "U" and second single "Dancing Out".
In Year 2007, Super Junior underwent a rough bend, beginning to branch out into different splinter groups and became detached, causing rumors that the group was disbanding. Super Junior - K.R.Y was the first sub-group to be created in November 2006 with 3 members, Ye sung, Ryeo Wook and Kyu Hyun who was known to have the most perfect and powerful vocals in Super Junior. K.R.Y participated in the Original Soundtrack for TV Drama Hyena with a total of three tracks, including the main theme. Each member of K.R.Y have their own numbers of fan-base which could also be a marketable group itself even without presented as super Junior. The next sub-group will be Super Junior-T created in February 2007 with members Lee Tuek, Hee Chul, Kang In, Shin Dong, Sung Min and Eun Hyuk. The group released their first single "Rokkugo" on 23 February 2007 which they sing a traditional style of K-pop into a more modernised version and was well-received by both the older and younger generation. The group even received praises from music critics. The single sucessfully topped No. 1 spot in several music charts in Korea. Super Junior-T made their first television appearance on 25 February 2007 on SBS Inkigayo with trot singer Bang Shil Yi and sang her hit song " Chut Cha".
Super Junior was also popular in Asia countries especially China and Thailand which the group paid many visits to these two countries promoting their songs. There have been speculation whereby Super Junior will target overseas markets and hold an Asian world concert tour in 2008. The group's second full-length album was marked to be release on November 2006 but was postponed due to a serious incident on 19 April 2007 at about 12.20am (Korean time) where 4 members of Super Junior, Lee Tuek, Shin Dong, Eun Hyuk and Kyu Hyun and two managers were injured in a car crash. The driver lost control of the vehicle as the van flipped over on its right side. Kyu Hyun, who was sitting behind the driver's seat was severely injured with a fractured hip, pneumothorax from fractured ribs and facial scratches and bruises. Lee Tuek had a sucessful operation removing the glass shards in his back and received a total of 170 stitches on his face and his back. Shin Dong and Eun Hyuk only had cuts and scratches, thus both discharged on 23 April 2007. Lee Tuek and Kyu Hyun recovered faster than expected. Lee Tuek was discharged from the hospital on 30 april 2007 while Kyu Hyun was discharged two months later on the 5 July 2007.
After the incident, Super Junior finally released their 2nd album on 20 September 2007 with their hit songs "Don't Don", a rock-inspired piece with an R&B vibe. This song marks the group's change in musical vocals and image. Within 3 days of release, the album selling around 66,678 copies debuting as No.1 in their local charts. According to global sales, 60,000 were sold by the first week of release.
Super Junior make their official comeback on 21 September 2007 with their performance of "Don't don" at KBS Music Bank. This is their first performance whereby all thirteen members performed after a whole year.

Tired! New Korean dramas

Wow, its been a tiring and busy week recently with my work. At last, I got some spare time to post new message. There are many korean dramas launching out but the most I liked and would recommend is as below:

Witch Yoo Hee
(Starring Han Ga In, Jae Hee, Jun Hye Bin, Kim Jung Hoon, Dennis Oh)
Storyline:
Ma Yoo Hee (Han Ga In) is known as a witch for her ruthless and practical character. After a string of failed attempts to hire a housekeeper, she literally runs into Chae Moo Ryong (Jae Hee), ex-medical student turned aspiring chef. As a way to work off his debt for crashing into her car, he agrees to become her housekeeper and personal love affairs coach for one month. Gladly, he gives her a makeover that attracts both her old friend Johnny Kruger (Dennis Oh) and her first love Joon Ha (Kim Jeong Hoon). Despite having a girlfriend, Sung Mi (Jun Hye Bin), Moo Ryong eventually finds himself falling for Yoo Hee...

Remarks: The storyline is appealing and funny in the beginning when main actor and actress meet, then in the middle the story start to slow down. Overall, still quite good drama.

How to meet the perfect Neighbor
(Starring Kim Seung Woo , Bae Doo Na , Park Shi Hoo, Kim Sung Ryung)
Storyline:
Baek Soo Chan has nothing in his hands but lives a life under the belief that he will become the man which every woman craved for.
However, his belief is questioned when he starts to realize true love. When playboy Baek Soo-Chan meets his match Jung Yoon-Hee, he goes absolutely crazy! His once blissful life of messing around with women has become something of the past ever since Yoon Hee started to make snide remarks to him so as to protect her older sister from being cheated by his playboy ways.
Yoo Joon Suk is the heir to his father's very successful company. He is forced to come back and take over his father's company when his father suddenly collapses. Yoon Hee then becomes Joon Suk's assistant and falls for her boss. Will Joon Suk return her feelings and will they be able to be together despite his mother's objections?

Remarks: In the beginning, the drama is abit slow mode, however, the storyline starts to pick up in the middle. Good drama.

Oh Soo Jung
(Oh Ji Ho, Uhm Jung Hwa, Kang Sung Jin, Park Da An)
Storyline:
Go Man Soo is a world known golf player who was dumped by a former beauty queen, Oh Soo Jung, seven years ago. Their fate becomes reversed when Oh Soo Jung who is now known as an old maid comes chasing after Man Soo who is now a 'golden bachelor' with good looks and money.

Remarks: This drama is appealing in every epsiode.

Jumong
(Starring Hur Jun Ho, Han Hye Jin, Chun Kwang Ryul, Oh Yeon Soo)
Storyline:
Jumong is the name of the legendary founder of Goguryeo, King Dongmyeongseong. The story starts with the conflict between Gojoseon, an ancient Korean kingdom, and Han Chinese forces, eventually leading to a fragmented Korean Peninsula. Hero-in-the-making Jumong (Song Il Kook, Emperor of the Sea) is born in this time of chaos and struggle in the little independent state of Buyeo. He quickly finds himself the most unlikely of princes and the victim of a rivalry with his brother Dae So (Kim Seung Soo, A Million Roses). He is forced to choose between the boyish charm of young merchant So Seo No (Han Hye Jin; Be Strong, Geum Soon!) and the innocent smile of Bu Yeong (Im So Young), a servant he's known for years. Through dangerous trials and painful lessons of the heart, Jumong must rise to the occasion to unite the land and bring peace to his people.

Remarks:
Jumong is the next hot topic after daejungdeum and Hwang Jin Yi with its impressive storyline and the fantastic performance by all actors and actress. Jumong is one of the hugely popular historical drama which dominated television screens during its broadcast, attracting 40% of the viewership rating in Korea.

Other Korean dramas:
The 1st Shop Of Coffee Prince
(Starring Yoon Eun Hye, Gong Yoo, Lee Sun Gyun, Chae Jung Ahn)
Air City
(Starring Choi Ji Woo, Lee Jung Jae, Lee Jin Wook, Moon Jung Hee)
Could Staircase
(Starring Shin Dong Wook, Han Ji Hye, Yim Jung Eun, Kim Jung Hyun)
Dalja's Spring
(Starring Chae Rim, Lee Min Ki, Lee Hyun Woo, Lee Hye Young, Gong Hyeong Jin)

New Korean Drama : Goong S (aka Prince Hours)

Goong S was make after the released of hot popularity Korean drama,
Princess Hours. This story tells a prince, Lee Hoo (portray by seven),
who has been living outside the palace after his parents died early.
Lee Hoo works as a delivery boy at a Chinese restaurant and everyday
life was so anticipating. Until one day, the Queen (portray by Myung
Se Bin) would like him to be the next successor to the throne. To enter
a unfamilar place, "Palace" and receiving royal lessons, there will
definitely involves funny scenes. Not only that, Lee Joon (portray by
Kang Doo) will also bring tension to this drama when they fight over
the throne and the women as well as the disputes between the
royal academy.

According to some of the websites, this drama was not well received

by the viewers. The expectation was not good enough compared to the

previous one "Princess Hours". The rating was not ideal and the plot

was unable to attract the viewers. To my point of view, I think the drama

will get more exciting during in the middle of epsiode. Let's keep our

fingers crossed for the better present of the drama.

白智英 - 壞人

After finish watching the drama "Hwang Jin Yi", I get to like the OST song especially 壞人 by Baek Yi Young, a 29-year-old korean pop singer. This song was so touching and nice to listen.
In fact, Baek Ji Young has won the "Best Ballad Singer" in November last year for her fifth album "Smile Again" during the MKMF Awards. With this song for the drama, it has outshine her singing career to a higher level.

In fact, Baek Ji Young has won the "Best Ballad Singer" in November last year for her fifth album "Smile Again" during the MKMF Awards. With this song for the drama, it has outshine her singing career to a higher level.

Korean Hottest Drama : Hwang Jin Yi (KBS Series)

Recently, I watch a Korean drama called "Hwang Jin Yi" which illustrates a
famous 16th century Gisaeng (Female Entertainer) in North Korea who lives her life as a Joseon-era dancer and a poet.

Although, H
wang Jin Yi faces much hardship due to her social status, she is fortunate to have been loved by 3 guys who are willingly to sacrifice for her. Her first love with nobleman Kim Eun Ho (portrayed by Jang Guen Suk) ended pitifully when he dies due to lovesick. During this scene, I keep on crying non-stop as it was so sad and touching.

Hwang Jin Yi scored a high-rating of 20.1% viewers watching this drama in Korea. With this drama, it brings spotlight to
Ha Ji Won who portrayed as Hwang Jin Yi, won the Netizen award, couple award and also Daesang Award at the KBS Performance Award. Not only this, it also brought fame to Jang Guen Suk and Wang Bit Na whose acting skills being recognized by the viewers.

I strongly recommend this drama “Hwang Jin Yi” to all Korean lovers out there. This is a prominent drama which will definitely be the next hottest topic after “Dae Jang Geum”.

Below is the dialogue which I personally like when Kim Eun Ho say before he pass away.

Alas! Shine Korea!

At last, I've finally created a blog! I did not intend to create a blog until one day something cross my mind: I should have share my opinions with others on my interest in Korean music, drama and variety shows. I believe there'll be people out there which shares the same interest like I do.

Anyway, I'll like to talk about a recent Korean variety show called "X-Man", which was highly recommended by some website. This variety show will have a subject/theme (ie. Most handsome singer, Youngest looking singer, etc) every week and 100 artists will cast their vote before the show starts. Then, the top 12 artists/singer will be invited into the show, without knowing who's the number 1 voted person (aka the "X-Man") based on that day's subject/theme. They will be split into 2 groups, playing games which the winning team for that game section will have a chance to castaway who they think might be the "X-Man" on that day. The team without the "X-Man" will win the game.

The variety show was so funny that I feel so high-spirited even after a moody day. The hosts really displays their powers of making people laugh. So, I will like to share the best of Korea to those out there.
